At the Hartford Preservation Alliance, we consider the term “historic preservation” to include:
- preservation of residential, commercial and public historic buildings
- infill construction that “fits in” an historic neighborhood
- protection of parks, bridges, monuments and cemeteries
- adaptive reuse of buildings
- advocacy for legislation that protects our historic assets
- creation of, and additions to, historic districts
- educational event and opportunities
- individual technical assistance
- economic development and jobs
- internship programs that train tomorrow’s preservationists
